Event Location

The Lake District National Park is one of the most awe-inspiring locations in the world. We’re hoping this event will encourage people from around the UK to see it from a new perspective and experience an exhilarating and challenging activity in their own backyard.

The event begins on the shores of Windermere, England's largest lake at 10.5 miles long (17km), stretching from Ambleside in the North to Newby Bridge in the South. The finish line of the event will be shared with the Arla Great North Swim, where family and friends can watch all the action while enjoying food and drink from local vendors.

About SwimRun

SwimRun rules are simple – you will need to complete your chosen distance through multiple swims and run stages, carrying everything you need from start to finish. This means, contrary to triathlon, you won’t be able to change clothing and will be wearing your trainers and wetsuit for both the land and water sections of the course!

Doing a SwimRun is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the great outdoors and experience a variety of terrain. Our SwimRun will guide you through the spectacular scenery of Windermere in the Lake District, each one more breathtaking than the last.

Travel & Parking

We very strongly advise you to plan your travel in advance, as many options are pre-bookable only and will sell out. We have introduced a park and ride option this year, and you can find out more about this and the different travel options, buy tickets, and plan your journey here.

There will be a drop-off and pick-up turning circle at the venue, and to ensure there are no delays on the road network there will be strictly no waiting on site. Parking on roadsides and verges is strictly forbidden, and the police would like to remind participants that any cars that are parked in these areas may incur penalty charge notices or be towed away. Please be considerate to other participants, residents, and tourists and park responsibly.
