Travel Advice
The British Gas Great North Swim will take place at Lake Windermere from the Low Wood Hotel and Marina.
Due to the number of swimmers (+ friends and family) taking part in the British Gas Great North Swim over the weekend, traffic around Windermere and Ambleside will be extremely busy. Whilst we are working closely with local police regarding traffic management, it is advised that you read the following travel advice carefully.
• Plan how you are going to get to the event well in advance.
• Arrive at the event site at least one hour prior to your start time
Park & Sail:

Park & Walk:
Follow the event parking signs to the Waterhead/Ambleside and then walk to the start line. Limited car parking at Ambleside.
Cycle to the Swim:
Warm up for the event by cycling to it. There will be bicycle racks near the start area, so you can either cycle from home or park your car in one of the official car parks and ride from there.
