
The British Gas Great London Swim will take place at Royal Victoria Dock in the Royal Docks complex near Canary Wharf and the ExCel Exhibition Centre in the East End of the capital.
How to get there:
By Public Transport
The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) provides a great service to the Royal Victoria Dock from the centre of London. The Royal Victoria Dock is located next to the DLR line and the Finish area / Event Village is next to the ‘Custom House for ExCeL’ DLR station.
Walk:
From Canning Town, the Event Village is only a 15 minute walk along the Silvertown Way, just follow signs for ExCel.
By bus:
Docklands is accessible on various bus routes. The Custom House for Excel bus station is serviced by a number of routes including the 241 from Stratford, the 325 from Beckton and the 678 from St George’s Road in West Ham. Custom House for Excel bus station is a short walk from the event village.
Docklands is also only a short bus ride from Canning Town. Take the 474 from stop B to Silvertown Flyover and the event village is a short walk from here.
By car:
From the West (City Centre); head along the A13 (East-bound) and then follow signs to the ExCeL.
From the East, head along the A13 (West-bound) and then follow signs for the ExCel.
From the South (M25, Jct 2), follow the A102 until signs for the Royal Docks/Docklands to lead onto the A1261. Then follow signs to the ExCel.
Parking is available at ExCeL and is priced at £5.00 for up to 2 hours and £10.00 for up to 6 hours. ExCeL is located next to the British Gas Great London Swim event village and finish area.
Air:
If you are coming from further afield, the London City Airport is only a 5 minute taxi journey from the Royal Victoria Dock.
